Q: When is soccer registration?
A: Indoor registration is held in January, Summer registration in March, and Fall registration in early September.

Q: Where can I hear about registration?
A: Our website is the best source for information otherwise we will post flyers around all schools Elementary School children will receive via backpack.  Information will also appear in the Daily Messenger, the Bloomfield town community board, and email’s will be sent to previous players already in our system.

Q: What does the registration fee cover?
A: Individual secondary insurance for each player, a T-shirt or uniform for each player and coach, league and tournament registration fees, coaching manuals, field paint, balls, nets, goals, bags and other equipment, field usage fees, office materials such as copying and postage, medical kit supplies, etc. Our fees are some of the lowest in the area.

Q: What equipment does my child need?
A:

All players need shin guards and a water bottle. Players in the U10 and above should wear soccer cleats.  The U6 and U8 age groups do not.

Q: What skills can my child work on at home?
A: Ball handling skills such as “juggling”, practice dribbling around obstacles in the yard, and proper kicking technique against a wall, ball return or just a picnic bench turned on its side.  Fitness is also important especially at the U10 and above age groups.  A combination of distance running, sprinting, and stretching is best for soccer.

Q: Who do I contact when the weather is threatening?
A:

Soccer players may play in rain, snow and mud but we don’t play when lightening is present.  If a storm is clearly going to result in the cancellation of a game or practice your child’s coach will likely contact you to confirm the cancellation in advance.  In most cases however the forecast is less clear and storms may pass quickly.  Therefore, when in doubt and if not contacted in advance, you should head to the field where a decision will be made by the coaching staff and/or game officials.  Practices and games may be temporarily interrupted while brief storms pass over.  We will not play for at least 15 minutes after lightning is seen from the field.

Q: What can I do to help my Child’s Team?
A:

If you are interested in coaching please contact our Board Member in charge of coaching and player development.  Each team normally has a parent manager to assist with the various logistics of running a team.  Contact your coach to see if this role has been filled or if you can assist with the various tasks that need to be completed.
