Coaches
should be familiar with the age group guideline both above and below their
current age level as every Bloomfield team will have players with varying
levels of skill. Stepping down to a younger group exercise for the prurpose
of perfecting the proper technique is always the right decision.
U10 Guidelines:
1)
|
Fun but with step
towards an appropriate level of seriousness towards learning. |
| 2) |
Introduce concept of team passing among more than
2 players and first steps towards general field awareness (close proximity) |
| 3) |
Introduce basic roles and positional play to all
players (education, not assigning positions) |
| 4) |
Increase pressure during most all activity sessions
to challenge wkill work. Take time to work with players who are lacking
in basic fundamentals. |
| 5) |
Introduce juggling and personal "at home" skill
sets to further improve ball handling. |
| 6) |
Introduce goal keeping and dedicate an entire practice
to this skill area where all players participate. (not at ryout fromat,
teach and try to reduce fear of shot blocking among all players, make
it fun). |
| 7) |
No complex tactics let players be creative and try
everything! |
| |
| Look for and celebrate
incremental results in learning as the steps of progress are often
very small. Keep the competitive fire burning while realizing the
big picture is player development not just wins and losses. |
